We are a hobby kennel nestled in California's picturesque wine country. Our name, derived from the Icelandic word for "Heart," reflects the deep connection this breed shares with their owners through their joyful and loving nature. We prioritize our puppies health, temperament, and adherence to the breed standard. Our dogs health is tested and live contentedly (and very pampered) in the serene surroundings of the Ukiah Valley. For additional information about the breed, click the button below. The Icelandic Sheepdog Association of America (ISAA), the parent club of the AKC for the breed, contains extensive information about the breed standards, history and more.

Our Puppies
You'll receive an AKC-registered Icelandic Sheepdog from health-tested parents. Breeding and show rights are considered on a case-by-case basis. Each puppy is carefully matched to you based on their personality and your lifestyle.
We devote time and lots of love to our puppies, providing balanced physical and emotional stimulation. Safely exposed to various experiences: children, farm animals, car rides, and new textures, noises, etc. They learn to regulate their emotions and adapt confidently. We follow ‘Puppy Culture’ and start early potty and clicker training to keep their minds sharp. Our puppies are also gently introduced to grooming routines like nail grinding and toothbrushing to set them up for lifelong success.
Expect lifelong support from us as we’re dedicated to being part of your Icelandic Sheepdog journey.
Our Spring 2025 will be ready to go to their forever homes in July!

Testimonials
Mabel
Utah
"You can tell Hjarta Icelandics is passionate about the breed and caring for the puppies. Our puppy Mabel came to us set up for success; she was exceptionally well socialized - introduced to car rides, grooming, various kinds of animals- and when we told them we were naming her Mabel, they made it a point to call her that so she would learn her name. Even after she came home with us, they would check in to see how Mabel was doing or we had any questions. I couldn’t recommend a Hjarta Icelandics puppy more strongly. In fact, the hardest part is keeping ourselves from getting another!"
Clark
Montana
"My husband and I stumbled upon the Icelandic Sheepdog breed through the AKC website. We thought Icies might be a fit for us; athletic, kind and intelligent with a herding background. As fate would have it we found Hjarta Icelandics. What stood out to us right away was the time they spent with us and their advocacy of the breed. We were naive to Icelandics, located in Montana and nervous about purchasing a puppy sight unseen. Their knowledge and compassion with their genuine conversation made us feel at ease. We felt understood and trusted them to choose the right puppy for us. Well, they nailed it. We are a little over a year into our Icelandic journey with Clark and we couldn't have asked for a better fit. The start the Hjarta family gave Clark was invaluable. Knowing that he would be calling our ranch home she went above and beyond even socializing him with farm animals. His transition from California to Montana was so easy. Clark was essentially potty trained and already had been exposed to simple commands making our training a breeze. It's rare to find a dog so happy, confident, intelligent and expressive. We strongly believe the Hjarta genetics, early socialization and loving home they provided for the puppies impacted our success. Clark is a fun loving companion who can work or recreate alongside us all day but also enjoys a day of R&R. He is lovable, goofy and SO handsome. We went into this process searching for a puppy and came out with a lifelong furry companion and a friendship with the Hjarta family."
